What is ANZAC Day?
ANZAC Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand that commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders who served and died in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. It is observed annually on April 25th, the anniversary of the landing of Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) troops at Gallipoli in 1915 during World War I.
When and where is the ANZAC Day service in Darwin being held?
The ANZAC Day service in Darwin will be held at the Cenotaph on the Esplanade. The service will commence at 6.00am sharp, on April 25th.
Is the ANZAC Day service open to the public?

What should I bring to the service?
We recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen, and water as the weather can be warm in Darwin at this time of year. Additionally, you may wish to bring a small Australian flag or a poppy to lay at the Cenotaph.
Is there seating available at the service?
Limited seating will be available at the service. However, we encourage attendees to bring folding chairs or picnic blankets for their comfort.
Is the ANZAC Day service suitable for children?
Yes, the ANZAC Day service is suitable for children. It is a solemn occasion, and parents are encouraged to explain the significance of the day to their children beforehand. Please ensure children are supervised throughout the service.

Yes, there may be road closures and traffic disruptions in the vicinity of the Cenotaph on the Esplanade. Please plan your travel accordingly and allow extra time to reach the service. A map will be available on the City of Darwin website.
Additional Events Following the ANZAC Day Service:
Church Service at St Mary’s Cathedral:
Following the ANZAC Day service at the Cenotaph, there will be a church service at St Mary’s Cathedral located in Smith Street. The service will commence at 8:30 AM. All are welcome to attend this solemn gathering for further reflection and commemoration.
Street March:
Following the church service, there will be a street march commencing at 9:00 AM. The muster point for participants is the corner of Knuckey Street and the Esplanade. Those who wish to participate in the march are encouraged to assemble at this location promptly.
Flyover of Aircraft:
At 9:30 AM, there will also be a flyover of aircraft as part of the ANZAC Day commemorations. This aerial tribute will serve as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by service personnel. Spectators are encouraged to find a suitable viewing spot along the march route or near the Esplanade to witness this display.
